N/Me-build needs some tuning (PvE)
Hey,
My first character ever on GW was a Necromancer, but I stopped playing her and now she's just standing in my log-in screen (she almost 4 years old, gift! ). After her I tried several other classes, but somehow... the necromancer's call couldn't release me and now I started a new necro.
I used to be a SS'er. Was quite powerful in those days, but things have changed a lot and I noticed. Lots of new skills, additions of heroes and new builds have been discovered.
Since I really liked Curses, I stayed Curses.
Right now I have this on my bar:
- Spiteful Spirit
- Enfeebling Blood
- Necrosis
- Web of Disruption
- Cry of Pain
- Ebon Vanguard Assassin Support
- Arcane Echo
- Signet of Lost Souls
All attribute points in Curses and Soul Reaping.
As I mentioned in the title, I only PvE and most of the time on my own. So I use heroes/henchies a lot. I read about some powerful combinations and I first tried the Sabway Necro-build. I liked it, but then I tried the Discordway and I'm sticking to it. All the other henchies are casters, no melee henchies (hate 'em )
Now I noticed I don't use my skillbar at full capacity. Like I never use SS (+Arcane Echo). I distrupt the mobs, give them degen, pop a condition (my heroes pop their hexes) and start the calling so my necro's can 'nuke' the mobs down with their Discord.
I've also read this topic: http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/w...t10365003.html
And after that, my head was a bit confused. I didn't know what to do next with my Necromancer. I can follow what Moloch is trying to say, but I don't know how I should adjust my build. I'm willing to remove SS, since I never use it. But what should I use in place? I also read about that Assassin's Elite, Assassin's Promise. But I kinda like the 2 Mesmer-disrupt skills I have now (since I don't need to spend attibute points for them).
Any help and advice is welcome and appreciated!

The Necromancer/Assassin AP Caller for a Discordway setup works wonders from what I've seen (I don't run Discordway myself, but I've partnered with people who do)
Yes, you'll lose Web of Disruption and Cry of Pain, but you'll gain "You Move Like a Dwarf!" (KD + Crippled) and "Finish Him!", which are amazing skills with that setup.

I made a post about this and haven't actually tried it myself but i was curious about "AP Nuking" which is nuking with Mark of Pain. I like the idea. It sticks with Curses, it's a lot of damage and i suppose you never stop doing things. You're always looking for the right target to MoP and then the right target to AP and other stuff added in etc.

I dont really see the problem.
you have a nice build over there, and if you dont find yourself using AE on your elite, either drop it and take another curse skill (barbs, reckless haste..) or you can echo the sin support.
AP is good with YMLD and finish him in a discord setup, and also in a MoP setup, as was mentioned above, but SS is a great elite as well.

I played like that a while ago, before I got burned out grinding titles and quit for a while. When I came back, I started running discord with 2 heroes, using curses as a secondary to drop conditions/hexes, and using a melee or healer hero as my 3rd hero slot. Now I use 3 discord heroes, plus myself running discord, for a total of 4 discords, and it works well. If I wasn't too lazy to get ebon sin support (and grind EV rep to make it useful), I'd probably choose the AP + mop over that, though. :P
If you don't want to give up your mesmer rupts, I would suggest switching your focus to death magic and run discord, putting 8 or 9 points in curses to keep enfeebling blood useful and putting most of your points into death.
